Auburn Public Schools,

As of today, the federal government will not be using contingency funds to pay for November SNAP benefits. Therefore, effective Saturday, November 1, over 1 million residents, including 277,000 school-aged children in 168,000 households, will not receive their SNAP benefits in the state of Massachusetts. Seemingly, SNAP benefits will not continue to be paid until the federal government shutdown is over.

The Auburn Public Schools Food Service Department provides free nutritious lunch and breakfast at our schools every school day. You can find our menus posted on the district website and that these meals will continue to be made available. The Department of Education has received USDA funding for at least October reimbursements for both the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

Lastly, if you need hunger aid, please reach out to Project Bread's FoodSource Hotline, FoodSource hotline. Counselors, in 180 languages, can help families find food assistance through other sources such as the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program and local food pantries.

School Meals Update!

Over the summer the Auburn Food Service will be updating the kitchen at Bryn Mawr Elementary School. The students will have a new service line and flow to receive their meals. We will also be updating our refrigeration and  cooking equipment. During the 2024/2025 School year we introduced 8 new hydration stations to the district. APS was targeted for our water quality and the food service department wanted to provide high quality filtered water to the students and stray away from the single use 8 oz bottles. Since implementation in May 2025 at all the schools except Bryn Mawr we have saved the equivalent to 25,000,  8 oz water bottles. 

June 2025 the district adopted a new wellness policy and the wellness committee was recognized at the Healthy Kids, Healthy Programs Summit - May 20 2025. The policy now is in line with the State and Federal regulations and focuses on physical. emotional and nutrition education and literacy and celebrating without food based incentives .

Students PK-5th grade will be receiving an ID card to use during breakfast and lunch this year and will be given them the first day of school. 

Meals will continue to be free for all students PK-12th grade during the 2025-2026 school year. Students will be able to purchase additional meals for a fee. We will continue to use linqconnect for money management. Please reach out if you wish to receive a refund from your students account. Parents must email bpulver@auburn.k12.ma.us with your name, student name/s, current address and amount to be refunded. A town of Auburn vendor number will be provided. Refunds may take up to 8 weeks.

• Adult Breakfast $3.50, Adult Lunch $5.50
• Student Additional Breakfast: $2.75, Student Additional Breakfast ES/MS $3.25, HS $3.75
